Our Mission

The Jessie Lu Development Arts Center seeks to holistically develop, educate, build, and nurture the gifts and talents of underprivileged youth; to cultivate productive citizens through performing arts, character building classes, supportive services, and mental health coaching.

This center will provide young creatives the platform, mentorship, and resources to constructively display their talents while receiving health and wellness, violence prevention, financial literacy, tutoring, and coping skills to further enhance their knowledge, adaptation, and transition into society.

Our Vision

We believe that future aspirations of today’s youth should not be diminished by an injured economy. Children and teens in low-income areas have limited options for extra-curricular activities and often spend time after school loitering in the streets. We believe by utilizing the Jessie Lu integrative model that adolescent character will not only be strengthened but knowledge gained from challenging sessions will help to eliminate violent behavior and increase tolerance and good decision making in general.

Our Target Audience

Youth from ages 3 & up from various cultural and income backgrounds

Why We Exist:

Today's youth are maturing in a time that vastly differs from the lives of their forefathers.

They are faced with gun violence, senseless robberies, and a threat to their innocence in many inner-city neighborhoods.

A need exists to cultivate the innate talents in young children that have not otherwise been exposed or awakened to their artistic ability.

Children and teens in underprivileged areas have limited options for extra-curricular activities and often spend time after school loitering in the streets.

Their best talents are overshadowed and diminished by the harsh realities of daily survival.

A life of freedom has been exchanged for a world consumed by drugs, gangs, and lack of productivity.
